Premium quality hardcover book
Pemberton Wine Region is emerging as an Australian premium cool climate grape growing region. About four hours drive south of Perth, Pemberton lies between the Margaret River and Great Southern Wine Regions.

A pictorial collection of a pristine wine making environment
Unlike any other wine region within Australia, Pemberton Wine Region lies beside three national parks. A fourth park creates a border with the Southern Ocean. There are towering karri forests, meandering rivers, spectacular inland sand dunes and rugged coastline. These forests, rivers, hills and valleys create a pristine environment in which to grow grapes. These factors, combined with human practices create what the French refer to as the region’s unique terroir.
Having been publishing and photographing the environment within the Pemberton region since 1992, I was in a unique position to document the emergence of the Pemberton Wine Region in the early 2000s.

This book captures the world-class beauty of Pemberton’s unique landscape that ultimately shapes its agricultural production. The book’s layout is both handsome and generous allowing the reader full visual appreciation with double-page spreads.

There is a short text description of 12 vineyards and wineries describing their individual approach to growing, harvesting, and winemaking. Accompanying these texts are candid images of working wineries and vineyards.

Combining images of cheeky vineyard activities such as truffle hunting, horse jumping, and sailboat races, the book imparts a sense of place that shapes the provenance of the region’s winemaking.

Pemberton Wine Region Western Australia is the first premium quality photography book to focus on this emerging region. It was the Australian finalist for Best Wine Photography and Best Book on New World Wines at the Gourmand Book Awards, Paris.
